Teknologiakiinteistöt developed new premises for Turun Vesihuolto, completed in 2025 in Itäharju, which is transforming into Turku Science Park. The project originated from Turun Vesihuolto's need for new premises, and wood construction was chosen for its environmental friendliness and features that support well-being at work.

“The staff has really enjoyed it here at the office, and I also enjoy coming to work at the office,” says Turun Vesihuolto's Communications Planner Elina Stenvall in the new video about AkvaCity.

The AkvaCity complex consists of a two-story office building and a hall intended for depot operations. In addition, parking spaces and a courtyard area that will turn green in the coming years were built on the plot.

“Project planning always starts, of course, with identifying the customer's space needs, and the customer has the best understanding of their own business. We can help the customer with that because we have strong expertise in real estate and premises,” says Teknologiakiinteistöt's Account Manager Annika Pakula.

AkvaCity has been implemented in accordance with the highest Platinum level of the LEED environmental certificate version v4, which means that AkvaCity's environmental impacts have been minimized throughout the building's life cycle. The property's main building material is environmentally friendly CLT, and the complex spans 2,400 square meters.

“The AkvaCity property is unique, and it is Turku's first entirely wooden office property. Perhaps this also shows that we are always ready to do something new and want to be a pioneer in premises,” Pakula continues.

AkvaCity was designed by Sarc + Sigge Arkkitehdit, and its lead architect is Jani Vahala. The construction of AkvaCity was handled by Jatke Länsi-Suomi.
